Dr. Russell Hunter, Psy.D. is a licensed clinical psychologist who specializes in Panic Disorder, Panic Attacks, Generalized Anxiety, and OCD in the Northern Virginia/DC Metro area.  He received his Doctor of Psychology degree from The California School of Professional psychology in Los Angeles, California in 2003 and his undergraduate degree from The University of California-Irvine in 1999. He completed his Pre-Doctoral Internship at Pasadena City College and BHC Alhambra Psychiatric Hospital. He worked at BHC Alhambra Hospital as an Intake Coordinator and Crisis Intervention Counselor.

Dr. Hunter worked at Pacific Clinics in Los Angeles County, California from 2004-2008 in an outpatient community mental health program and with clients with severe mental health diagnoses, he also worked as a Clinical Supervisor and provided clinical supervision of pre-doctoral candidates.

From 2008 to 2015, Dr. Hunter worked for the Alexandria Department of Community and Human Services had the opportunity to provide in-home and clinical psychological evaluations for adults and older adults. He then worked with Novant Health from 2015-2021 in their outpatient mental health clinical in Manassas, Virginia. He provided outpatient individual therapy and conducted psychological and neuropsychological testing during the time of the pandemic and guiding them through the trauma and anxiety of being isolated. In 2021, he joined a local practice to make the transition to the private setting and gain experience working with clients while maintaining more flexible hours and working virtually. He was able to gain additional experience administering psychological testing to clients as they emerged from being quarantined while maintaining a individual therapy caseload.

Currently, Dr. Hunter's private practice focuses on adolescents and adults who struggle with anxiety, depression, ADHD, and family conflicts. Dr. Hunter has published a book, Attacking Panic: The Power to be Calm, specifically geared toward those wanting to learn to manage their own anxiety and dealing directly with self-training out of panic they may suffer.
